Simon Boswell
Done in May, 2008, I just kept on forgetting, or had thigns to do, and the interview just sat there in my inbox.  I am rectifying this terrible mistake now.

How did you get involved with "The 18th Angel"?

I was approached in the normal way through my agents at the time -- Gorfaine Schwartz. I read the script, which seemed really interesting, and was written by David Seltzer who wrote The Omen, a movie I admired and liked. So I said yes.

Approximately how much of the score had you written and recorded before you left?

I had written the entire score but not yet recorded it.

Can you describe to us what your score was like?

The score was dramatic, sinister, quite gothic and featured full orchestra and choir.

Why were you not retained?

At a certain point, before my cues were even put on the film, the movie was tested and a number of, changes, including the involvement of the director William Bindley, were suggested. It appeared, at the time that he was being moved sideways to be 'associate' director -- never heard of that one! There were about to be a number of reshoots. The film began to turn into a much less subtle gore fest than the script that I liked. And unfortunately, the changes put the schedule back to such a degree that it impacted on the next 3 movies I had signed to do. So I walked away from the project.

Are there any chances of the score making it to CD one day? I know of at least one guy who has it on his Wish List.

     I don't think so.

Were there any other scores you were attached to but were not the final ocmposer? (I got to ask)

     None.

As a curiousity note for fans, what's next after "Tin Man"?

I just finished a movie for HBO scripted by UK playwright David Hare and starring Uma Thurman and Jonathan Pryce. It's called My Zinc Bed.
